The Institute of Hospitality, as the professional body for hospitality managers and aspiring managers, promotes the employment of people of all ages through its Extending Working Lives information. The hospitality, leisure and tourism industry relies heavily on employees under the age of 29. The Institute understands that employees of all ages bring different – and valuable – skills to the table. Savvy managers with age diverse work forces can create effective teams with a range of skills and knowledge.
One aspect of employing older workers: many older customers appreciate seeing a more age diverse workforce.
We encourage the industry’s managers to use the Institute’s FREE Extending Working Lives resources, including an article from the Institute regarding the many benefits of an age diverse workforce. Find the FREE materials at: https://www.instituteofhospitality.org/Publications/ExtendingWorkingLives
